Greetings!
This year marks the beginning of our Capital Campaign for a new building. Since it's inception, Elmhurst, Inc. has continued growing in order to respond to local needs of services for people with developmental disabilities. Due to expansion over the last couple years, we have outgrown our current space at 400 Centre St. We now support over 70 adults and children with developmental disabilities in the Mid Coast area.
As we kick off this campaign, we want all of our supporters to know that after 43 years of service - Elmhurst is stronger than ever. We continue to expand both the volume and the types of services that we provide. Our newest program, casemanagement, was developed in conjunction with the Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services to help provide coordination in all aspects in an individual's life.
What we envision for our new building is an ADA designed facility that will be used for both programmatic and administrative functions to carry out our services. After exploring our options, we've decided now is the time to act. The Bath City Council is sponsoring Elmhurst in seeking a $250,000 grant through the Community Facilities Grant program, which would be a great way to jump-start our fund raising efforts. We also have a tremendous amount of community support for this project. The United Way of Mid Coast Maine, Davenport Trustees, DBS, the Bath City Council, and the Bath Police Department are solidly behind us. Our Board of Directors is 100% supportive of this as well.
To make this dream into reality we need your help. We need to fund raise $100,000 to help offset the $850,000 estimated cost of the new facility. So far the Davenport Trustees have given us a $10,000 challenge grant, and along with other donations we have already raised $25,000. All money raised in this campaign will go directly to offset the construction of the new building and decrease the amount of money we will have to borrow. We're asking for your support either through a one-time gift or two-year pledge. If you could consider any sort of monetary donation, your tax-deductible contribution would make you a partner in this effort - a wonderful investment to enrich the lives of people with disabilities. If you are interested in helping us fund our new building, you can use our secure account to donate online - just by clicking the "Make a donation" button below. Payments will go through PayPal, but you don't need to have an existing account to donate! Make sure to note whether you are donating to the Capital Campaign, or the agency in general.
Thank you for caring. It means a lot to everyone here at Elmhurst, Inc. Wishing you only the best in the coming new year.
